Simple at-home and professional care goes a long way toward preventing periodontal and other diseases. Do you brush and floss daily? That's a
great start! Add the professional treatment that you'll get, and you are
well on your way to great dental health.
We perform basic hygienic care (plaque and tartar removal and
polishing) every six months, and with some patients, we may recommend cleaning by a hygienist every 3 or 4 months to maintain dental health and prevent the further spread of periodontal disease. Best of all, we'll teach
you great methods to perform effective care at home.
We treat your whole mouth with modern and comprehensive methods.
We use:
- Digital XRays - The best diagnostic tool a dentist has is X-Rays of
teeth and bone. New digital X-rays increase disease detection capabilities while reducing patient exposure to traditional radiation dose by up to
95%.
- Intraoral Pictures - “A picture is worth a thousand words!” By
taking pictures inside your mouth you can clearly see what the dentist
sees. This is an excellent way to understand your oral health.
- Velscope - Oral Cancer is the 6th most common type of cancer. Our screening is done yearly during your
preventive checkups
to detect early stages.
To find out more about oral cancer, please visit the Oral Cancer Foundation and review their comprehensive resource list as well as other pertinent oral cancer data on the web and elsewhere for patients, caregivers, and the public.
- DIAGNOdent and Sealants - Our hygienist and dentist use the
KaVo DIAGNOdent to help detect caries at the earliest possible stage. DIAGNOdent helps us treat what we can't see before it becomes visible.
With fluoridation of water and improved oral hygiene standards, the
nature of caries has changed. The resultant harder and more resistant
enamel can conceal or mask aggressive sub-surface decay. Along with
the proper dental x-ray, the DIAGNOdent is a reliable, non-invasive aid
to the contemporary dentist's arsenal of diagnostic procedures, and is
highly effective in detecting caries at an early stage when teeth are most vulnerable. We recommend Sealants, used for all ages, to be placed over
the biting surface of all non decayed back teeth to prevent the chance of tooth decay
from invading the deep crevices we all have on our teeth. So does the American Dental Association! It is a simple painless procedure in which
a clear protective material is flowed into these areas and it is then light
cured. Imagine - protecting your teeth for years to come with Sealants!
